Let It Drip
Intro
It started as a small play on an old rhyme, the kind that hums in the back of your head on gray mornings. Somewhere in the repetition, it turned into a kind of conversation between rain and thought, silence and smoke.
What came out feels like listening more than speaking, a quiet drift between the drops.
Inspired by the writing prompt of “rain” from the #WildWalkPrompt on Bluesky.
rain, refrain
you’ve said enough for now
the roof hums your old tune
and the worms come out to bow
rain, remain
till the street forgets its name
till the smoke turns soft and holy
and the moon admits its shame
rain, explain
why silence rings so loud
why every drop feels ancient
falling through this crowd
rain, stay
till I remember how to sleep
till the sky forgives the thunder
and the dark begins to weep
rain, refrain
I never asked you to go
just to teach me how to listen
when I’ve nothing left to know
